Post 8108 established a new website in December under the
National VFW Website Solution Program. After investigating options, Post members voted at a regular meeting to establish the website under the national program due to the many benefits associated with the program. The features that persuaded the members to vote in favor of the program include:
- Integration with the District, Department, & National websites and branding
- The clean contemporary layout
- Ability to customize and update the site with minimal technical skills
- Ability to archive Post information
- Ability to create Members only access to selected pages and content
The first year of hosting through the national program has been paid for with a grant offered by national. Subsequent years cost $360 for domain management and hosting. The Post plans to pay for this cost through acquiring web sponsors from local businesses and has indeed already secured two sponsorships for the first renewal period. If Post or Auxiliary members know of any businesses that interested in sponsoring the site they should contact the Post Adjutant or Quartermaster for more details.
The website will be administered by the Post Adjutant and any questions or suggestions should be directed to him. The Adjutant is currently asking members to submit pictures of the post as it has evolved from its founding, of members engaging in military training or operations, and of members engaged in any community support or outreach events.
